B.Sc. Nursing Program - 4 Years

Introduction

Kathmandu Medical College (KMC), operating for more than two decades and transformed into a Public Limited institution in July 2009, is dedicated to providing quality medical and nursing education. KMC emphasizes a student-centered curriculum, community-oriented learning, and problem-based approaches to develop highly competent and socially accountable healthcare professionals.

The B.Sc. Nursing program began in February 2006, followed by M.Sc. Nursing (2019) and BNS (2019). KMC is affiliated with Kathmandu University (KU) and recognized by the Nepal Nursing Council (NNC). Admissions are conducted annually in August with KU and NNC approval.

The program has produced 10 batches with 222 graduates, all achieving a 100% pass rate in KU final examinations.


Eligibility

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  1. Completed 10+2 education or equivalent with:

    • Minimum GPA 2.4 in aggregate

    • Minimum C+ in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology separately

    • Minimum C in other subjects

OR

  1. Passed Intermediate of Science (I.Sc.) or 10+2 Science or equivalent with:

    • Physics, Chemistry, and Biology

    • At least 50% aggregate in PCB subjects

    • At least 50% overall aggregate (non-grading system)


Selection Criteria

  • Must pass the Kathmandu University Entrance Examination (compulsory).

  • Evaluation based on:

    • Academic performance in 10+2 or equivalent

    • Personal interview

    • Final selection strictly on merit

Selection Methods

Students’ performance is evaluated as per KU’s B.Sc. Nursing Curriculum through:

  • Formative Evaluation (Internal Assessment)

  • Summative Evaluation (University Examination)
