Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) Program – 4 Years

Overview

The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) course consists of 4.5 years of academic study followed by a 1-year compulsory rotating internship after passing the University Final Examination.

  • Part I (First 2 Years): Basic Medical Sciences and Dental Sciences subjects.

  • Part II (Remaining Years): Dental Clinical Sciences subjects, including Community Dentistry and Medical Clinical Sciences.

  • Internship: Compulsory residential posting across various departments.

Upon successful completion, students are awarded the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree by the University. The medium of instruction is English.


Eligibility

Admissions are open to Nepali and foreign students who must appear in the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination. Selection is strictly merit-based.

Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  1. 10+2 Science (Biology Group) or Equivalent

    • At least 50% separately in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology

    • At least 50% aggregate marks in total

    • OR minimum C+ grade in PCB subjects, C grade in remaining subjects, and GPA ≥ 2.4

  2. A-Level or Equivalent

    • Percentage equivalent to the above eligibility requirements with equivalence from the relevant board.

  3. Health Science Proficiency Certificate Level/Diploma Holders

    • Programs: General Medicine, Medical Lab Technology, Ophthalmic Science, Dental Science, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Radiography, Physiotherapy

    • Certificate of equivalence to Grade 12 Science from NEB

    • At least 50% separately in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and 50% aggregate in Diploma and Equivalence exams

    • Registered with the respective council (NHPC, Nepal Pharmacy Council, or Nepal Ayurveda Council).
