Introduction

Kathmandu Medical College (KMC), established more than two decades ago and transformed into a Public Limited Institution in July 2009, is dedicated to delivering quality medical and nursing education. The institution emphasizes a student-centered, community-based, and problem-oriented curriculum aimed at producing highly competent and socially responsible healthcare professionals.

In line with this vision, KMC offers

  • B.Sc. Nursing (since 2006)
  • M.Sc. Nursing (since 2019)
  • BNS (since 2019)

Affiliated with Kathmandu University (KU) and recognized by the Nepal Nursing Council (NNC), KMC admits students every August with approvals from KU and NNC. The B.Sc. Nursing program has already produced 222 graduates across 10 batches, with a consistent 100% pass rate in KU final examinations.

Eligibility (for National Students – M.Sc. Nursing)

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Completed 4-year B.Sc. Nursing OR minimum 3-year Bachelor in Nursing Sciences (BNS) from a recognized university.
  • Secured at least 60% aggregate marks.
  • Possess minimum 1 year of clinical or teaching experience after completing a bachelor’s degree.
  • Be registered with Nepal Nursing Council.

Selection Criteria

  • Admission is based on the Kathmandu University Entrance Examination followed by counseling.
  • Final selection is strictly based on merit.

Evaluation Methods

Student performance will be assessed through:

  • Formative Evaluation (Internal Assessment)
  • Summative Evaluation (University Examination)

Evaluation methods will follow the M.Sc. Nursing Curriculum prescribed by Kathmandu University.
