How Is It Done?
The patient wears a small portable device connected to electrodes placed on the chest, which continuously records heart activity for a day or two.
Preparation
Remove jewelry and avoid lotions on the chest. Electrodes are attached securely, and loose clothing is recommended.
During Monitoring
The patient goes about normal daily activities while the device records. A diary of symptoms and activities may be kept for correlation with the recordings.
Post-Treatment
After the monitoring period, the device is returned, and the doctor analyzes the data to detect abnormalities and plan treatment.
